London’s Green Spaces Revealed…

This weekend (11th-12th June 2011) brings with it Open Garden Squares rare and exciting opportunity to visit and enjoy a whole host (212 to be precise) of gardens and green spaces in London that are not usually open to the public! The green areas will not only be open for your viewing but they will also be packed with activities for you and the kids to get involved with. It’s a great chance to explore the greenery that London has been hiding away.

Gardens that will be open include: Garden Barge Square – gardens created on the decks of barges moored at Tower Bridge – The Goring Hotel, where Kate Middleton stayed the night before the royal wedding, gardens at HM Prisons Holloway, Wormwood Scrubs and Wandsworth, and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace – the former home of Princess Margaret. Several gardens offer activities for children, and there are guided walks, bike rides and tours around a selection of the gardens. One ticket allows entry to all venues over the weekend.

Visit the website for details of all participating gardens and to see lots of gorgeous pictures from the gardens involved last year.

It costs £7.50 /p if you buy your ticket before and £10 0n the day- children under 12 are free.

What a great excuse to get outdoors this weekend with your little ones. Paws crossed for sunny weather!
